“Salzburg is storybook Austria. Standing beside the fast-flowing Salzach River, your gaze is raised inch by inch to the Altstadt’s mosaic of graceful domes and spires, the formidable cliff-top fortress and the mountains beyond.”
My first trip here in Austria was in Salzburg. We woke up early because it was quite far and got there at around 11.
After we got a bit lost from the train station, we walked towards Mirabelle Palace which along with its gardens, is a listed cultural heritage monument and part of the Historic Centre of the City of Salzburg UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After that, we crossed the bridge with the many locks and went to the main city. There, we were able to see Mozart's birthplace. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in No. 9 Getreidegasse in Salzburg, Austria, in the year 1756. From 1747 through 1773, the Mozart family lived on the third level. On January 27, 1756, Mozart was born here. Nearby, there is also Salzburg's Cathedral which is a seventeenth-century Baroque cathedral, dedicated to Saint Rupert and Saint Vergilius.
Also, you need to go for a walk in Getreidegasse which is a bustling shopping street in Salzburg's medieval Altstadt, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996 and you can admire the architecture and the buildings and in Residenzplatz which is a huge, grand square in Salzburg's old center and is one of the most famous places to visit.

After all the walking we took a very much deserved burger and went to Salzach's River banks for a picnic and to enjoy the sunny day.

If you visit Salzburg do not forget to purchase the famous Mozart balls (or Mozartkugel) which is a small, spherical sugar dessert wrapped in dark chocolate and made of pistachio, marzipan, and nougat!
